Curtis is a native of Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia she is the daughter of Carmencita Ojales a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan and James Ernest Curtis-Smith who was an Australian lawyer. Her father got married to Ojales in 1982. The younger sister Jasmine is also an actress. They both have fathers. had a half-sister called Clare who passed away in the year 2007 from a heart illness that occurred at 4 months of age.
